1. RSCA Annual Meeting: Thursday, October 6 at 7 pm, Discovery Elementary School
Mark your calendars now for the RSCA Annual Meeting. Our speaker this year will be Mark Schwartz, the County Manager. Imagine all of the interesting questions you could ask him: What is going on with the Old Dominion Drive repair work? What is Arlington’s plan for the future of residential neighborhoods such as ours when the county is calling itself urban; what will be the impact on our neighborhood by the expected development of Lee Highway; how will the toll lanes on I-66 effect the arterial streets (such as Lee Highway) through Arlington—and so many more. If you haven’t seen the inside of Discovery, now is your chance. Please come! Dues are again just $10 for the year.
2. Street Light Demonstration: Thursday, September 15, 8-9 pm Yorktown Blvd and N. 28th Street is the street light demonstration for the lights on Old Dominion Drive and possibly other neighborhoods. This is an issue that neighborhoods have been following as the Arlington County standard has been identified as potentially hazardous because the color temperature (whiteness of light) is above the recommended level by the American Medical Association. Reports indicate that LED street lighting brighter than 3000k (Arlington LED street lights are 5500K) has potential health effects.

3. Old Dominion Updates: Street lights have been added to the intersection of Old Dominion Drive and N. Edison Street and Old Dominion Drive and North Dumbarton Street. See item above. Here is the most recent status of the Old Dominion Drive Project.
