Welcome to the monthly newsletter from Rock Spring Civic Association. We hope to provide timely and interesting news items affecting our community.

1. Community Facilities Study open house June 2

The Community Facilities Study Committee will host a community open house and public information forum on Tuesday, June 2, in the Courthouse Plaza Lobby. Attend to learn more about the study, share feedback and ask questions. This group will inform County and School Board decision-making regarding meeting the community’s requirements for additional schools, fire stations, vehicle storage sites and other facility needs. The open house will be a drop-in format for community members to come and go during three time periods throughout the day:

  • Noon – 3:00 p.m.

  • 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

  • 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

2. Arlington Neighborhood Villages Invites You To A First Year Anniversary Party

Bring your neighbors and friends to help celebrate ANV's mission of helping seniors live independently in their homes and communities. There will be light refreshments and a warm welcome for you.
When:  Thursday, June 4 from 6 to 8 PM
Where:  National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Conference Center, 4301 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA 22203 Free parking in NRECA garage after 5 PM (entrance on Taylor street)

3. School Events Coming Up

June 2: 7pm – 9pm: Yorktown Orchestra Concert

June 10, 8-9 pm: Williamsburg Spring Concert, Orchestra and Chorus

June 15: 7 pm: The public is invited to attend a community forum on interim options to address capacity issues at Williamsburg Middle School between September 2016 and September 2019.   Interim solution options include the use of both on-site and/or off-site locations to house some portion of the school populations, the possibility of some interior redesign, the use of relocatables as part of the solution, and changes in scheduling.

4. Rain Barrel Workshop:  Wednesday, June 10, 7 PM:   Make a rain barrel to collect rainwater for your yard and garden!   Cost: $55 per barrel. PRE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
