In response to community concerns, the Schools Superintendent has agreed to move the "relocatables" at Jamestown to option B, one of the alternate locations suggested at a recent meeting -- as explained in the Jamestown principal's message below:
June 20, 2012
Dear Jamestown Families and Neighbors:
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the placement of the relocatable classrooms here at Jamestown Elementary School. I appreciate the responses we received from many families in person, by email and at our community meeting on June 4. Many of you shared your thoughts about a variety of options concerning the placement of the relocatables.
As you can see in Dr. Murphy's letter to me which is available at the link below, he has reviewed the feedback we received, and has directed the Facilities and Operations staff to take steps in the coming weeks to move the units from their current position to the "Option B" location. This will move the relocatables to a place that is closer to the gym and 38th Street North.
I support his decision and believe that it will ensure the safety of our students and locate the classes in a way that minimizes impact on school operations and on the school field.
I am pleased that everything will be ready when teachers return in August to prepare for another great year of learning here at Jamestown.
Thank you again for your efforts, and best wishes for a wonderful summer.
