A meeting was held on January 28, 2014 by Arlington County to present the final design of the median work that will be done on Williamsburg Blvd, between Harrison St. and Edison St.
This project is expected to have work begin sometime in March. This project work will likely last six to eight weeks.
After introductions and a short description of how the Neighborhood Conservation project process works, Mohammed Elomary, an engineer with the County, described the changes that are planned for this project. Next, Christin Jolicoeur with the County, gave a description of the bio-retention component of the section of the median that is closest to Harrison St. Jill Yutan of the County provided input about the tree plantings that will be done in the other two sections of the medians as well as the utility strip that will be created near Harrison St. The median project incorporates elements to enhance pedestrian safety, improve traffic management and capture storm-water runoff.
A question and answer period followed in which residents were able to express their views and ask questions about aspects of this project.
