Construction of the north side of the culvert at Williamsburg Boulevard has been completed. Within the next few days, the construction crew anticipates switching to the other side of Williamsburg Blvd. to begin the next phase of the culvert construction. They currently are working on restoration of the sidewalk, curb, and gutter, as well as the paving of the road surface.
Unfortunately, due to wet weather delays, construction of the culvert and channel walls is now expected to continue through June and into July. It is anticipated that sod will be put down followed by the installation of the fences during the summer of 2010, after construction has been completed. The landscape installation, which is part of the final phase of the overall project, is now planned to occur in the fall of 2010.
Construction also continues simultaneously on the proposed channel and retaining walls at the Little Falls end (far south). Workers have excavated, formed, and poured the concrete for over 150 feet of the channel. The plan is to continue proceeding north, constructing the channel in 25’ intervals. This includes clearing, grubbing, excavating, and pouring the actual channel and retaining walls. Stumps are being removed as part of the clearing process on an ongoing basis as construction nears the area.
