- March 22, 7:30 p.m. in the Reinsch Library Auditorium – Columnist and political analyst Mark Shields will give the Marya McLaughlin Lecture in Media Communications at Marymount University. To RSVP, call 703-526-6872.
- April 2, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Lee Center – The annual Special Olympics Regional Basketball Tournament, organized and hosted by Marymount University, will begin with the parade of athletes in front of the Lee Center.
- April 5, 4-6 p.m. in Caruthers Hall, Marymount new academic building – High Tea and Poetry will feature Dr. Samuel Hazo, founder and director of the International Poetry Forum and the former State Poet of Pennsylvania. The event will begin with tea in Lola's Café (first floor, Caruthers Hall).
- April 14, 8:30 p.m. in the Lee Center (A
cocktail reception will precede the show at 7 p.m.) –The Portfolio in Motion student fashion
show will honor Junko Yoshioka as Designer of the Year. She is known for
her bridal gowns and evening wear. In addition, Pulitzer Prize-winning
journalist Robin Givhan will be honored for excellence in fashion
journalism. The theme
of Portfolio in Motion 2011 is “Cirque Noir,” reflecting the edgy,
sophisticated student fashions that will be showcased in an avant-garde
