RSCA is a member of the the Arlington County Civic Federation, which was formed in 1916 and describes itself as having "more than eighty member organizations dedicated to advocacy and community involvement. Its purpose continues to be promoting the general welfare of Arlington County and vicinity in a non-partisan, non-sectarian, non-sectional, and non-political manner."
There are 21 Committees that study community-wide policy issues and report to the Civic Federation member organization delegates. Committee members do not have to be delegates from their Civic Associations to serve on a committee, just a member of a Civic Assoc. This year there are several vacancies on the committees, and the Civic Fed. has asked that we appeal to our members to volunteer to serve. Some of the committees require very little time and meet infrequently, depending on the issues that arise, from sandwich board signs to airport noise, schools to environmental affairs. Please visit the www.civfed.org homepage and click on Committees to see some of the issues addressed most recently, or www.civfed.org/committee.html. If interested in possibly serving on one of these committees, feel free to contact Sharon Jolly (one of RSCA's delegates) by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
